9/3/2008 - Note: this was done last year, has anyone been up there recently?

Summit Gully, Stob Coire nam Beith  - Ski Descent

Current condition when route was done: Rain in Glencoe and high snow line following a very dry February

Route description: From Glencoe walk up towards Stob Coire Nam Beith. It took 40 minutes to the bottom of the gully and even then it did not look too enticing. I ascended the 450m grade I/II gully that runs right to the summit of Stob Coire Nam Beith with great rock architecture en route.  Initially the snow was very wet but it improved with height as the mist got thicker.

In descent, there is an initial small bowl leading to a choice of two short chutes around an excellent blade of rock, then a tight drop leftwards to avoid the climbing pitch which makes the top half a ‘no falls zone’. Then it is more relaxed skiing down a right slanting ramp and into the entry gully. Good times!

Hopefully someone can get into it before the end of this winter - I would be glad to hear what people think.
