GlideLite Skins Standard or with STS

These are considered an excellent skin, lightweight, easy to pack away, wide tip loop to fit irregular or ‘fat’ tips and highly durable because they are nylon. The STS attachment keeps the skins firmly attached to the base of the ski with an adjustable tailpiece clip. It will attach to most skis, even twin tips, but if you are concerned they function just as well without. If you buy the Standard version there is no STS attachment. So you could try it and still trim the skins to not use it if you prefer. Black Diamonds web site has a very useful instructional video of how to trim your skins.

Black Diamond Skins Tip Loop Width

One of the hardest things to find out is which tip loop width comes with which skins and which tip loop width you need for your skis. Well, there are two different sized tip loops. They are both reversible, this means that they can accommodate too sizes each. Large - Medium and Small - Medium.

Large Tip Loop is 83 mm

Medium Tip Loop is 70 mm

Small Tip Loop is 57 mm

The tip loop needs to sit comfortably over the tip of your skis but not slip to low.

They make skins in 130,120,110 mm = Large to Medium Tip Loop

And 100,90,80 mm = Medium to Small Tip Loop

E.g Skis with dimensions 118 - 78 - 108 was best with 110 mm Skins which came with the larger tip loop. They were then cut to fit. Definitely check out Black Diamonds handy video for extra help on the cutting procedure.
